Privacy Policy

Effective October 5, 2026

This policy explains how the North Dakota Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) web portal, operated by Youthworks, collects and uses information about the guardians and program staff who use it.

Information we collect

  • Account information: your name, username, e-mail address, cell phone number, employee number and judicial district, entered by a GAL program administrator.
  • Program records: the case assignments, time, mileage and expense information you enter to request reimbursement.
  • Security information: sign-in attempts, the IP address they come from, and a log of the verification codes and reset links sent to you (date, time, delivery method, and whether delivery succeeded).

How we use it

We use this information only to run the GAL program: to verify your identity when you sign in, to help you recover your password, to process and pay reimbursement requests, and to produce the reports the program requires.

Text messages (SMS)

Your cell phone number is used only to send the sign-in verification codes and password-reset links you request through the portal. See the SMS Terms and Conditions for message frequency, costs, and how to opt out (reply STOP) or get help (reply HELP).

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information may be shared with subcontractors that support the service, such as our text-message delivery provider, only to deliver the messages. All other categories of information exclude text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Sharing

We do not sell your information. We share it only with the service providers that operate the portal and deliver its e-mail and text messages, with the agencies that fund and oversee the GAL program as the program requires, or when required by law.

Security and retention

The portal is served over an encrypted connection, passwords are stored as one-way hashes, and sign-in uses a second verification step. Records are kept as long as the program requires them.

Your choices

You can stop text messages at any time by replying STOP. To review or correct your account information, contact GAL program support at 701-870-0064.

Changes

We will post any changes to this policy on this page with a new effective date.
